10:30 – 11:00  “Thomas Hart Benton and American Wateways ”, Leo G. Mazow, Curator of American Art, Palmer Museum of Art, The Pennsylvania State University

11:00 – 11:25 "Relationship between Mr. Benton and President Truman - Independence and the Opening of the West" - Tom Heuertz – Truman Presidential Library and Museum (Independence, MO)

11:35– 12:00 Piano presentation accompanied by video of Thomas Hart Benton artwork - Gary Ellison (Springfield, MO)

12:00 – 12:50 Lunch and tours of The Bridge, at 12:50 students will be dismissed to attend one of four activities:

  •  Joplin City Hall, Benton Mural presentation and historical display
  • George Washington Carver National Monument scholar presentation and tours
  • Newtonia Civil War Mansion tours and presentations
  • Neosho National Fish Hatchery presentation and tours
