| The "Oldest Mining Town in Southwest Missouri" was
established after the discovery of lead in 1850. North and South wrestled
for control of the prized lead during the Civil War, each holding the town
for brief periods. The Miners Museum in downtown Granby houses artifacts
and memorabilia from the town's lead mining industry.
